As promised in my last post, The Red File Folder is Alive, I’ve been bringing the concept of a ridiculously simple defect tracking system to fruition. Today, I’m thrilled to announce that a demo version is now available at https://demo.redfilefolder.com!

While you do have to register your e-mail address to get access, it’s just your e-mail address and that’s strictly for use within the system itself. I absolutely, positively promise not to spam you or give/sell your address to anyone else!

At this point the main functionality is in place to create and manage defects. If you’re used to certain other systems, I want to warn you that The Red File Folder is deliberately sparse and simple.

While I’m still working on the packaging of the product, the goal is for The Red File Folder to appeal to small companies, teams and even individuals who want to track defects without the overhead of a huge, bloated system.

With that in mind, I have some specific goals for the product:

• You will be able to take the package and have it installed, running and usable in 10 minutes

• The system is intuitive to the point that you don’t require any help in order to enter and manage defects

• Providing only the features you need to manage defects, with no bloat or unnecessary extras

• Helping you to ensure that only a manageable number of defects are tracked, enabling you to keep your software stable and your workload under control
